LICENSURE

Licensure of the FACIT Translations follows the same initials steps as for any FACIT questionnaire Registration and Requests link. Permission must also be sought and granted via FACIT.org information@facit.org.

License for use of a translated questionnaire may require a fee. This decision is made on an individual project basis according to the nature of the trial, the questionnaires and translations to be used, the sponsor, and standing contractual arrangements. In general, there is a licensing fee for pharmaceutical and biotech companies to use the translated questionnaires in clinical trials of a commercial nature. This licensing fee structure is based on the type of language used. For languages using the Latin alphabet (i.e., most Western and some Eastern European languages) this fee is $1500 per language, per subscale, per trial. For languages using a non-Latin alphabet (i.e., Russian, Hebrew, Chinese), this fee is $2000 per language, per subscale, per trial. The higher cost for the non-Latin languages relate to the additional expense incurred in the typesetting and formatting of these languages. Currently, there is no fee for use of any of the English versions of the FACIT questionnaires. Finally, some companies may find it beneficial to enter into a global Licensing Agreement, which will grant use of the available translations at a fixed annual cost. Please contact FACIT.org to initiate a discussion regarding these licensing options.

In cases of purely academic research, we will waive the licensing fees as long as the collaborating investigator or group agrees to share summary data at the conclusion of the study. We are very interested in building collaborative relationships with international groups interested in assisting us with future testing of translations of the FACIT scales. If you are interested in such collaboration, please contact FACIT.org.
