FACT-Ga Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – Gastric For patients with Gastric Cancer LICENSE THIS MEASURE Overview Language Availability Licensing Selected References Related Measures Overview Overview The Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – Gastric (FACT-Ga) was developed for use in clinical trials and oncology practice to evaluate treatment efficacy from the patient's perspective and to monitor symptom burden over time. It has been validated for its reliability and sensitivity to clinical changes, such as variations in disease stage or physical performance. It is a valid and reliable measurement of QoL in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma, is a useful instrument for QoL assessment in clinical trials, and it also may be useful for the detection of significant changes in the QoL of individual patients. MEASURE NAME: Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – Gastric (FACT-Ga) VERSION: 4 NUMBER OF ITEMS: 46 PATIENT POPULATION: Gastric cancer patients 18 years and older RECALL PERIOD: Past 7 days RESPONSE SCALE: 5 point Likert-type scale DATA COLLECTION: Paper and electronic ADMINISTRATION: Self-administration and interview when applicable SUBSCALE DOMAINS: Physical Well-Being, Social/Family Well-Being, Emotional Well-Being, Functional Well-Being, Gastric Cancer Subscale TIME FOR COMPLETION: 10-15 minutes SCORING: Manual scoring template, some items are reverse scored. The items from the FACT-L have been reduced to a smaller number for preference-based valuation techniques, resulting in 7 dimensions: fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, anxiety, nausea/appetite loss, depression and pain. These 7 dimensions are common to non-small cell lung cancer patients.
